A spare majlis, an unused maid's room wing, or that oversized landing upstairs — most Dubai villas have a space that's one project away from becoming the family's favourite room. Here's how to plan a home cinema properly, in the order that saves you money and rework.
Step 1: Pick the room and control the light
Darker is better. Choose a room where you can fully block light — blackout blinds or curtains over any windows, and ideally a door that doesn't open onto a bright hallway. In the UAE, light control has a bonus: keeping direct sunlight off your screen and furniture also protects leather from UV fading.
Step 2: Plan the layout around viewing distance
Work from the screen backwards. For a projector or large TV, place the first seating row at roughly 1.5× the screen diagonal. A 120-inch screen wants seating about 4.5 m back — comfortably achievable in most villa rooms. If you have 6 m or more of depth, you can fit two rows; put the second row on a 30–40 cm riser so nobody watches the back of a headrest.

Step 3: Tame the acoustics
Villas in the UAE are mostly hard surfaces — tile, gypsum, glass — which makes for echoey sound. You don't need a professional studio: a thick carpet or rug, heavy curtains, fabric wall panels behind the seating and a few bookshelves will absorb most of the harshness. Perforated leather seating helps too; it absorbs rather than reflects sound compared to hard furniture.
Step 4: Choose seating that fits the room, not just the showroom
Measure your row width and recline clearance before you order. A Row of 4 spans about 3.3 m; wall-hugger recliners like most of our home theater seating range need only a hand's width behind them even fully reclined. For family rooms that double as a cinema, a reclining sectional is the flexible option:

The Elodie recliner sectional gives you cinema comfort that still works for everyday living — while dedicated rows from the Bespoke Series deliver the full theater experience.
Step 5: Light the room for atmosphere, not glare
Dimmable, indirect lighting is the rule: LED strips behind the screen wall, step lights if you build a riser, and seating with built-in ambient lighting. Many Valencia models include RGB base and cupholder lighting with seven colours — enough glow to find your drink without washing out the picture.
Step 6: Order with delivery in mind
Theater seating arrives as individual seat sections that connect in the room, so tight staircases are rarely an issue. Prices on our UAE store include VAT, with free curbside delivery to major areas across the Emirates. Send your room dimensions to sales@valenciatheaterseating.ae and we'll sketch out a seating plan for you — or browse the theater seating gallery for inspiration from real installations.
